Your boltless steel shelving goes together by hand in minutes. Watch the build sequence below, then follow the written steps.
Step 1 of 7
Stand the two uprights
UprightsBlue bracesDiagonalBeamsShelves
Assembly shown for 1.8 m, 2 m, 2.5 m and 3 m high units — these use a double diagonal brace per end frame.
Step by step
Lay the uprights down. Place a pair of uprights flat on the floor (or lean one against a wall) about a shelf-width apart — far easier than trying to hold both standing at once.
Bolt on the short bars. Slot each short bar in between the upright frame. The frame has two holes and the bar has two holes — line up all four, push the long bolt through all four holes and fit a nut on the far end. Repeat at the top, middle and bottom.
Add the diagonal brace. Slot the diagonal in between the upright frame the same way — line up its two holes with the frame’s two holes (four holes in all), push one bolt through all four and secure with a nut on the far end. One end frame is now complete.
Build & stand both end frames. Repeat steps 1–3 for the second end frame, then stand both upright and parallel, the shelf depth apart.
Connect the back beams. Slot the horizontal back beams into the vertical uprights at each shelf level.
Connect the front beams. Slot the front beams in the same way at each level. The frame is now self-supporting and square.
Drop in the safety pins. At each beam-to-upright connection the holder has a hole — drop a safety pin in so the beam can’t lift out. The pins sit in loosely at the front of each beam. (Pins come in a pack of 16.)
Drop in the shelves. Lay each shelf panel onto its beams and press down until it sits flat. Your unit is ready to load.
What you'll need
The supplied Allen key (for the brace bolts)
A rubber mallet helps to seat the beams
A flat, level floor
Two people for 2 m+ units
About 10–15 minutes per bay
Tips
Start beams from the bottom level for stability
Keep the frame square as you add beams
Don’t fully tighten the brace bolts until the end frame is square
Stand the unit in its final position before loading
Safety: Anchor tall or top-heavy units to the wall to prevent tip-over. Spread weight evenly and do not exceed 200 kg per shelf. Place heavier items on lower shelves.
Where the 10 bolts go
Every joint works the same way: all holes are pre-drilled. The upright frame has two holes and each bar has two holes — line up all four, push one long bolt through all four holes and secure it with a nut on the far end. There are 10 joints per end frame, and we supply 10 bolts, 10 nuts and an Allen key.
